Every photograph tells a story, and my first priority is to preserve it as true to the original as possible. The original photo is digitized first, creating an unaltered digital copy before any restoration work begins.

If the photograph has scratches, dust, discoloration, or other signs of age, I can carefully restore those imperfections while maintaining the natural look of the original. If the original photo is faded or has lost some of its color and vibrancy over the years, I can take the process a step further with enhancement to bring back color, contrast, and detail, giving the photograph a fresh, renewed appearance.

You’ll receive all three digital versions: the original scan, the restored copy, and the restored & enhanced copy, so the original is always preserved while giving you additional versions to enjoy, share, and print.

From Video Frame to Frame-Worthy 

One of the unique benefits of having your old home movies digitized is the opportunity to create photographs from special moments that may have never been captured with a camera.

Many people don’t realize that video is actually made up of a series of individual still images called frames. When those frames are displayed one after another quickly, we perceive them as continuous motion. That means your old home movies may contain thousands of potential photographs hidden within them!

By extracting individual frames from a digitized home movie, it’s sometimes possible to uncover a special expression, interaction, or moment that never existed as a photograph. With careful editing and specialized software, selected frames can then be restored, enhanced, and upscaled to improve their quality and prepare them for printing.

The example shown here was extracted from an old home movie recorded in 1989. The original frame captured a special moment between my friend and her newborn son that had never existed as a photograph until the old home video footage was digitized. After extracting the frame, I upscaled and carefully edited the image to create a printable keepsake of a moment that had been preserved on videotape for decades.
